- Assistant professor (tenure-track)
Description
The candidate will work in the field of Practical Theology, in which he/she is a specialist. A strong record
accross several subfields of Practical Theology (homiletics, liturgy, religious pedagogy, spiritual care,
ecclesiology, ecumenism, hermeneutics) is required. The candidate must be able to lead a research team
and work collaboratively within the Institut lémanique de théologie pratique (ILTP), as well as members of
the Faculty of Theology at the University of Geneva, members of the Faculty of Theology and Religious
Studies (FTSR) at the University of Lausanne and members of the Faculty of Humanities at the University
of Geneva. The ability to teach in connection with the field is essential, particularly in relation to the pastoral
training that is part of the MA in theology. The chair of Practical Theology is a crucial point of contact
between the Faculty of Theology and the Protestant Church in Geneva (Église protestante de Genève,
EPG) as well as with the other Protestant Churches in French-speaking Switzerland.
Teaching: a minimum of 6 hours of teaching per week for the BA and MA programs is required, including
lectures and seminars, both in person and remotely. Teaching takes place primarily at the University of
Geneva campus, but also at the University of Lausanne. In addition, the candidate will teach advanced
training courses (doctoral programs, CUSO) and may, if necessary, contribute in or lead a continuing
education program. Since the language for the great majority of courses is French, this language is required
right from the start. The ability to eventually teach in English is indispensable.
Research: the candidate demonstrates a strong record of research excellence in the field of the position,
confirmed by scientific publications and original projects. The candidate will develop research projects in
collaboration with local, national (FNS) and international academic research institutions.
Public service: the candidate will engage in civil society: church communities, media, conferences,
committees.
Administrative duties : the candidate will be expected to perform administrative tasks within the Faculty and
University bodies.
Requirements
Qualifications and experience: Doctorate (PhD) in Theology or equivalent. University-level teaching and
research experience in the relevant field of the position are required.

German.
